Audio / Sound Player Howler.js Lite: Loop audio not working

Has anyone tried using the Audio / Sound Player Howler.js Lite with the Loop option selected and found that it doesn’t work on longer clips?

I’ve got a 2min long audio clip (background noise) that I’m trying to get it to loop, but for some reason it just doesn’t. If I put a short audio clip in (<10 seconds) it loops just fine.

Hello @dustinwstout,

Hi @dustinwstout,

Following your query, I conducted tests with an MP3 audio file lasting 2:50 minutes. Activating the Loop function allowed the audio to loop seamlessly without any issues.

To delve deeper and understand the situation better, could you provide the size of the audio file you’re attempting to play? Additionally, screenshots of the plugin element’s settings would be immensely helpful. Also, could you specify the device and browser where you experienced this issue?

I’m committed to resolving this matter and look forward to your response to assist you further.

Best regards, :hibiscus:

Thanks @dorel. I’ve since tried experimenting with different things. Here’s the file that I’m using (found on Pixabay): https://pixabay.com/sound-effects/nyc-diner-2-ambience-ambiance-by-edlundart-17933/

The file size is 8.5MB. Here is a screenshot of my settings:

Yesterday I unchecked the “Force HTML5 Audio” option and then checked it again (turned it back on) to see if that helped. It seemed to have worked for a while, but just now as I was responding to this, I have my app running in the background and the loop stopped after the second or third play-through. So it seems to be inconsistent in its loops.

I’m on an iMac (M1) and I’ve saved the webpage to my Dock (via Safari).

Hello @dustinwstout,

Thank you for providing those details!

After conducting tests with the same file, I’ve discovered that the Loop feature of the Howler.js plugin is experiencing compatibility issues with the Safari browser. Unfortunately, this is beyond our control, as the issue stems from the API itself. Conversely, in Firefox, the feature works seamlessly.

However, it’s important to note that when the app is not in focus, background playback including the loop functionality, will not operate due to Bubble’s restrictions, as is location tracking and workflow continuation.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and regret that we’re unable to offer further assistance with this matter

Best regards :hibiscus:
