Barcode & QR Code Reader Plugin for Bubble - read mysterious values

I am using the QR code reader plugin.

I use this plugin on my iPad.

If I leave the camera running on my iPad for an extended period of time, it reads the mysterious barcode (RSS_14) link.
The time it takes for this problem to occur is erratic, sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes over an hour.
Also, when this problem occurs, the values continue to be entered even after the camera is restarted and the page must be reloaded to work properly.

The iPad we are using is as follows

iPad Pro (11 inch)
iPad OS: 18.4
Browser Safari

Any suggestions on how to address this error?

A Few Suggestions to Troubleshoot:

  • Browser/Tab Handling: Sometimes, the issue you’re experiencing could be related to how the browser or tab handles long-running processes like camera access. Try ensuring that the browser or app you’re using to run the plugin has the proper permissions to allow uninterrupted camera access. In addition, check if there are any background processes or apps that might be interfering with the plugin’s functionality.

  • Check for Memory/Cache Issues: Long-running camera processes can sometimes cause memory or cache-related issues. Try clearing the cache or testing in a private/incognito tab to see if the behavior improves. Another approach is to limit the amount of time the camera is allowed to run continuously to reduce the chances of this issue appearing.

Testing on the Demo Page

To further isolate the issue, could you check whether this happens on our QR Code Reader demo page? This will help determine whether the problem is specific to your app’s configuration or something that might occur with the plugin in general.

Please let me know how it goes or if you encounter the same issue on the demo page.

Thank you for your reply.

Regarding your troubleshooting,

  • I have the same problem even if I set the browser/tab camera permissions to “Always Allow”.
  • Private browser, clearing the cache, etc. did not solve the problem.

The same problem occurs when I open the official demo page on my iPad and launch the camera for an extended period of time.

Also,the latest update (1.69) no longer reads RSS_14 and now reads other values such as
B-A and A1/A.
Attached is a screenshot of the demo page when the problem occurred.

Thank you for your reply.

I performed a few tests using both an iPad and iPhone on our Demo page. The inputs you see on the demo page are correctly displaying the scanning results.

When you start the camera, there is no “Type” text:

After scanning a product, the type of code and value are displayed, and it remains visible until you scan a different item. See the screenshot below:

The same results were observed on both the iPad Air and iPhone 11.

We recommend testing on other iPads, as we were unable to replicate the issue on our end.

Also, you might need to update the plugin to last version, according to the plugin Updates changelogs - we’ve Removed RSS-14 formats.
