Bubble page to pdf converter - blank pages - need support!

Hi guys,
I recently purchased the plugin, worked my way through the documentation and found the right settings for me. So far everything went really smooth and I was about to pop the corks, until I noticed that the converter creates blank pages at a certain point. I have tried everything possible to fix the problem. Unfortunately without success.

The strange thing is that the first pages are converted to PDF exactly as I imagine and only the last pages remain blank.

For a better understanding, here is my setting:

Plugin Version: 1.27 (from a quality point of view, the only usable version for me)
Number of final PDF pages: 14 [~ 4mb].
Use of page breakers: no

Below screenshots of the issue and plugin configuration.
Note, the ignored element ID “1” is the button to create the PDF.

What did I do wrong? Please advice.
Thx René

Hi @Rene1, thanks for reaching out and detailed description of your issue.

Most probably, it is related to the fact that the plugin is starting the conversion process before 100% of the page content loads.
As a possible solution, allow me to recommend the following:

  • in the related workflow, add an action “Add a pause before the next action” before the “ConvettoPDF” action. This will add extra time for the page to load the whole content.
  • scroll down to the end of the page, to be sure that all pages are uploaded, and only then start the conversion process.

Hope it helps. In case the issue will persist or any other plugin-related questions will appear, please let me know.

Regards,

Hi @Serg - thanks for the quick response!!

I basically assumed that there is enough time to load my page, since the PDF conversion is started only when a button is pressed. For verification, I varied the durations until I pressed the conversion button - no difference in the result. In addition, my understanding was that the PDF conversion and the prompt to open the file, is part of the step: “Convert to PDF…”. That means, adding a “pause” would be a subsequent step, or?

Anyway, I have tried both of your advices, unfortunately without success.

Do you’ve any other idea what could cause the issue?

Hi @Rene1, thanks for your reply.

In order to check what’s wrong with your setup and test it out in your workspace, would it be convenient for you to add our support@zeroqode.com as a collaborator of your app?

Enter your Bubble editor page -> Settings -> “Collaboration” tab -> Invite a user (email).
(Note: you can add our support account to the collaborators list even if your app is on a Free/Hobby plan.)

I will check your setup and do a few tests in an attempt to find the root cause and help you fix it.

Or, if granting access to the app is not possible, please provide as many details as possible. Namely:

  • screencasts of your setup - workflows, plugin settings (for the screencast recording, let me please suggest using the Loom tool).
  • screenshots and/or screencast of the issue you have (debugger, browser console, etc);

Looking forward to your reply.

Regards,

Hi @Serg

Thanks for your support!

I just invited you as a collaborator.
Please take a look on the page sora_druck. From there I think you know where to go.

Let me know, if you need further information.
Thanks
René

Hi @Rene1, thanks for your patience.

We’ve tried to identify the possible issue within your app, by checking the plugin’s functionality and creating a testing page (zq_test).

The issue with blank spaces/pages is related to the following:

  • it is required to precisely separate the converted pages into groups (considering spaces until the last pixel between them) and add corresponding page breakers. Even if 1 pixel will be out of the group - a new blank page will be added.

We’ve created a test page (zq_test) and modified it accordingly to the above-mentioned point. Please consider also a few more advice that will help you to make a working setup:

  1. for an easier conversion process, we recommend converting not the whole page, but a single element - https://prnt.sc/13ekjkk
  2. on 1.27 version - to use page breaker element for an accurate user page separation into pdf subpages
  3. divide and manage all elements on the page into groups, because when it is all in one - it is negatively influencing the plugin functionality - https://prnt.sc/13ekmo4
  4. in the plugin action indicate the precise dimensions of pages and groups which you have in the editor and which you would like to receive as a result of conversion into pdf file - https://prnt.sc/13ekpoo
  5. in case if in converted pdf file will keep appearing blank spaces - please be sure to check if the lowermost element in the group is not touching the group border (“exiting” its limits on preview). This fact can force the plugin to transfer this pixel on the second page. Also, please check the used browser scale, the best result is obtained with the 100% scale.

Please use the zq_test page settings and design as a reference for better document management and conversion.

Hope it helps. In case any other plugin-related questions will appear, please let me know.

Hi @Serg thanks for your response.

The grouping of the sites/elements as the reason for the problem, I would not have thought in life. Hence, I am glad you solved the issue. I will follow your guide and probably rebuild the site.

Although the plugin has some beauty flaws, I appreciate your support very much.
Keep up the service!

Hi @Rene1, thanks for your kind words and you’re welcome
We would highly appreciate it if you can rate our plugin, by going to the Plugins tab in Bubble editor and putting a like for it. Find the plugin by name and it gives it as many stars as it deserves :slightly_smiling_face:

The more feedback we get, the more motivated we are to make things better in Bubble.

Have a nice day!
Regards,

@Serg, will rate our plugin!

By the way, I read in one of the other topics that ZQ is working on a plugin enhancement to convert URLs to rich text rather than screenshots.
Do you have a time outlook for the release?

Hi @Rene1, thanks for that :hugs:

Sorry, cannot guarantee any estimates on this matter, unfortunately. Once the plugin will be updated, I will let you know.

Thank you for understanding and have a nice weekend!
