File Uploader Native Mobile Plugin Questions / Issues

I have purchased the monthly version of this plugin to test it out before committing to the full purchase. There’s a couple of issues I’m running into and some bugs I’ve noticed with the plugin:

  • There are misspellings on the property panel for the plugin. “Label” under “Texts & Messages” is missing the last “l”. “Button Bordar Color” spells “border” incorrectly.
  • I do not want to display a title (I just want the button), but there is no way to remove this. I can put a space in the field to remove the text, but there is still visual space on the layout.
  • The text for the button doesn’t seem to be fully customizable. It looks like I can set the font size / color, but I can’t seem to adjust the weight to match my other buttons.
  • When I drop the element into the editor, the default value for “Message Uploading” is: “:hourglass_flowing_sand: Uploading {count} image(s)…” {count} doesn’t seem to be a variable that actually gets parsed.
  • I cannot change the yellow background that shows up behind the response messages. It doesn’t go at all with my theme.
  • There is a setting for icon color… but I’m not sure what this means? What icon?

I would actually rather use an icon than a button… is there a way to use an icon instead of the button with text?

Is the pro version of the plugin less buggy / more customizable? I only need to upload images, but I’d like more flexibility in visual control.

Or, is there an update that may fix the above issues?

Hi @liz ,

Thank you for your detailed feedback and for sharing the issues you’ve run into with the File Uploader Native Mobile plugin. We really appreciate you taking the time to list everything out—this is extremely helpful for us.

We’re currently reviewing your notes and analyzing the plugin’s current behavior and settings. Once we finish our review and confirm which of your points are bugs, missing features, or limitations, we’ll follow up with more details and possible solutions or workarounds.

If you have any other observations or additional requests, please feel free to add them here. Thanks again for helping us improve the plugin—we’ll get back to you as soon as possible with a more complete reply!

Hello again @liz ,

I was able to confirm some of the behaviors you described in your post, and I appreciate you highlighting them.

I’ve passed all the information about the typos and inconsistencies to our dev team so they can be addressed in a future update.

Regarding your question about the icon setting: this field is only relevant in the pro version of the plugin. The pro version allows you to select files from the file manager, and when you pick file types like audio or text—which don’t have a natural image or video preview—the plugin uses a visual icon as a placeholder. The free version only works with photos and videos from the gallery, so these files have a native image-type preview instead, and the icon field isn’t used. We agree this inconsistency could be confusing, and we’ll be updating the plugin to make this clearer.

As for customizing the button font weight and changing the status message background color, those are both great suggestions. I’ve added them to our internal idea backlog for the plugin.

I don’t have a specific ETA for the next update just yet, but I’ll be sure to reach out here as soon as there’s any progress or a new version that addresses these bugs and improvements.

Thanks again for your feedback and for your patience while we work through these points. If you have any other questions or suggestions, just let me know!

Thank you for the response.

I’m still evaluating the plugin to see if I can get it working the way I’d like in my app. As I get down the road with that a little more, I’ll post here again if I come up with anything else.

Hi @liz ,

Thank you for the update, and no problem at all :slightly_smiling_face:

Regarding the bugs you mentioned earlier, I’ve already started receiving preliminary updates from our dev team, and I can confirm the task is actively being worked on. Once a fix is published, I’ll make sure to update you in this thread right away.

Feel free to reach out anytime as you continue testing — we’re happy to help if any other questions come up.

Thanks again!

@egor.smorodinov Thanks for the note! I went ahead and updated my plugin. Looks awesome!

Three other questions:

  1. Do you know if any change might be coming to allow the background color on the confirmation message to change? And / or a recommendation for if it could be overwritten with Javascript or CSS? I don’t have yellow anywhere in my app, and also it stands out like a sore thumb if you are building something to be used in dark mode.

See attached:

  1. By the same token I’d love to be able to use an icon instead of a button to trigger the upload. Maybe there could just be an action to trigger the launch of the gallery window that I could bind to whatever I wanted to? And the ability to not show the button?

  2. Finally, any chance of having a grid display of the uploaded images more like instagram? If you are uploading a lot of images, a linear display takes up A LOT of room.

Another issue: If you choose images, finish uploading, and then click the button to upload some more images, the original image(s) are removed from the plugin display of uploaded images and are essentially orphaned.

I believe the appropriate behavior would be if you uploaded additional images after the initial batch, they should append to the ones already uploaded, not overwrite them or there should be some way to delete the existing ones?

Hello @liz

You’re absolutely right: the latest update you noticed was specifically aimed at addressing several of the issues you mentioned earlier. In version 1.16.0, we fixed the {count} variable behavior, corrected the typos in the property panel, and improved the title and text handling as part of a general maintenance release focused on UI refinements and bug fixes.

Some of the suggestions from your most recent message — especially around deeper visual customization, icon-based triggers, and layout flexibility — are either fully or partially planned for an upcoming PRO version update of the plugin. These improvements are currently being developed and tested by our dev team. Once everything is finalized and released, I’ll make sure to personally reach out and let you know. I hope you can understand that, given our business model, not all advanced customization options can be included in the free version, particularly when they require significant development time and resources.

That said, please rest assured that all of your suggestions are very welcome. Even if not everything can be implemented immediately, we actively add ideas like yours to our internal backlog and revisit them as the plugin evolves. Please feel free to keep sharing feedback — it genuinely helps shape future updates.

Regarding your last note about the grid display and the “orphaned” images behavior: the preview thumbnails are currently tied to a single upload session. When a new upload is triggered, the previous preview state is reset. This is expected behavior with the current implementation. As for a grid-style layout, the element already allows hiding the default preview and exposes the uploaded file URLs as a list. Using that output together with a custom state (for example, tracking an “ongoing file upload” list), you can build a custom grid or Instagram-style layout on your side without requiring changes on the plugin itself.

Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback and for testing the plugin so thoroughly. If anything is unclear or you’d like us to sanity-check a specific setup, just let us know — we’re happy to help.

Hi @liz ,

We rolled out one of the planned updates and have just published it as version 1.13.0 :tada:

This update for the PRO version includes:

  • Fixed label typos (“label”, “border”)
  • Improved button text (“Select photos from gallery”)
  • Unified wording for size/limit messages
  • Fixed the {count} variable in the uploading message
  • Updated label behavior so it collapses when the title is empty
  • Documentation updated accordingly

If you notice anything unusual or if something doesn’t look right after the update, just let us know and we’ll take a closer look.

Looking forward to your feedback.
