The only way I can play audio in the background on native devices is by using the HTML5 Audio.
However when using the HTML 5 audio volume control does’nt seem to work (on iOS).
Are there any updates coming resolving this issue?

We have done a thorough investigation with the development team about this issue with howler.js and unfortunately, there is no solution to this problem.
This is a known limitation for howler.js because IOS assumes that the user is using the device’s volume control. Volume and Mute Control iOS?? · Issue #415 · goldfire/howler.js · GitHub
