Issue with Image Zoom for Bubble Mobile

I tried running this through the AI bot, but it didn’t really help - I think this is actually a bug.

I’m trying to specify the background color for the container and it just… ignores it. I also tried setting the opacity to 0% to see if maybe that would work. No love.

Additionally, there is a grey dot right in the middle. I don’t know why?

Finally - not a bug, a request: while the load time isn’t horrible, but I wouldn’t mind the ability to set some sort of loading graphic, it does sit with nothing for a few seconds.

Testing on iOS BubbleGo. Testflight does the same thing. I don’t know about Android. Screenshots of what it looks like and my property panel.

I tested the page on my end and forwarded your request, along with my findings, to our developers. They will start analyzing the situation and the behavior from their perspective, and we should have an answer very soon.

Regarding the “container background” — this field is used to select the background color for the zoom image. On my end it generally works well, aside from the small transparency issue you mentioned, which I was able to confirm.

This field is not related to the black “intermediate” state that appears before the image is fully loaded.

I will circle back to you once I receive an update from our development team.

Thanks, so just to confirm: it is expected behavior that there is a big black box that shows up while the image is loading? (Or is this what you’re checking with with the development team?).

If yes, is there anyway around this? Visually it’s not a great look on a white background.

Thank you for your patience while our development team investigated the background transparency and the grey dot issues you reported on iOS.

We have great news! We have just published a new update for the Image Zoom for Mobile plugin (version 2.1.0) that addresses both of your concerns.

Here is what was changed and how you can apply the fixes:

• Background Transparency Fix: We found that the plugin’s custom “Container Background” field was restricting opacity settings. To fix this, we have removed that custom field entirely. You can now use Bubble’s native element background settings (located in the Appearance tab) to set your transparent colors seamlessly.
• Grey Dot / Placeholder Customization: The grey dot was a default loading artifact. With this new update, we have added placeholder and loading state customization. You can now easily change the filler color, adjust loading animations, or remove the spinner entirely to suit your app’s design.

Next Steps: Please head over to your Bubble plugin manager and upgrade the Image Zoom for Mobile plugin to 2.1.0. Once updated, adjust your background colors using the standard Bubble property panel and explore the new placeholder settings.

Is there a lag between release and availability?

Thanks for pointing this out.
I’ve spoken with the dev team, and it appears there was some sort of miscommunication.

The latest version you should upgrade the plugin to is 1.9.0. Please check the Plugins tab in your editor and let me know if everything is working on your end.

If not, I recommend clearing your browser cache and trying again—this has resolved the issue in most cases.
