Mouse and Elements plugin

I’ve got a keyboard shortcut plugin that allows me to type ‘/’ into a rich text field and it opens my draggable menu that I’ve built. The menu isn’t opening where the typing cursor is, so I purchased the mouse & elements position so that I could open said menu at the typing cursor in the text field; the blinking typing cursor. This plugin only lets me do mouse cursor position and even that isn’t moving the draggable menu to the cursor. I need to get it to the typing cursor.

Help please :slight_smile:

Hey @tzuork. Thanks for reaching out.

Can you please provide a bit more details on your use case? Like, the setup screenshots of both Keyboard shortcut and Mouse & Elements plugins and a bit detailed description of what you want to achieve? :pray:

This information will help us understand the functionality you want to achieve and if it is possible using both plugins.

Thank you :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello,

All I want is for when I press a key on my keyboard a group right next to my text cursor in a text input is shown. Even in this chat box typing to you now, if I type @ sign a menu drops down with your name on it right next to where I typed. That’s what I want to do. I can do the keyboard shortcut so when I type @ into a text input a group pops up, but it’s no way near the blinking text cursor that it should pop up right next to.

My use case is Notion.so, when you type / sign I want a drop list of commands to show RIGHT next to my blinking text cursor, not half way across the page like it currently does.

Thanks,

Ash :slight_smile:

@tzuork,

Got it now, thanks for the details. :slightly_smiling_face:

So, if you have a half-way developed functionality and want to fix it a bit, it seems to be more convenient for me not to recreate everything from zero, but take a look at your current setup.

As you say, at the moment the menu appears far away from the cursor in your app. Would it be acceptable for you if you add our support@zeroqode.com email as a collaborator of your app so I can take a look at why does it happening and provide you with some insights on this matter?

To add our support account you should go to your Settings tab > Collaborators and type the email inside the “invitation” box. Please note that our email can be added to collaborators even if your current plan is Hobby.

Hello Kate,

Thanks for your reply.

I haven’t got a half developed product, I deleted it because it didn’t work.

I just need somebody to tell me how it can be done, that’ll be the fastest thing. If I have you access to my app you’d be staring at a blank screen, as I haven’t done anything other than test plugins so far :slight_smile:

@tzuork,

Oh, apologies, but we can provide the support on our products if only our users have some bugs or troubles with the plugin work that we can check. And provide some insights on the correct plugin setup if only we have the thing to investigate.

We can not create test apps for each plugin combination to check their compatibility or coop-work, unfortunately. As per the fact, both plugins were working together in your app I can presume it is possible to make them work under your use case - just need to configure the setup to make it work exactly as you need.

We can take a look at your plugins setup and provide you with some useful insights, instead.

Thank you for understanding :pray:

Hi Kate,

I don’t understand how this has taken a few days already and still I’m not provided with an answer. I don’t want hands on support, I purchased an incorrect plug-in first and foremost so want that resolved separately to this under the Consumer Rights Act regarding digital goods. Secondly, I want an answer whether this mouse and elements plugin can give the coordinates of the typing cursor inside an input field or not, that’s it. I don’t want anybody touching my app, I don’t want anybody creating test apps or anything. All I want is an answer, can your plugin give the coordinates of the typing cursor inside a typing field? (so that I can build a menu using a draggable field that’ll move to said coordinates?) That’s it. It’s either yes, or no. My situation is time sensitive and if your plugin cannot do it, I need to move onto what will.

And I’m not sure what you mean by “Because both plugins were working together in my app, I can only presume they’ll work in your use case”, I’ve never once said the first plugin I bought had any relation to what I’m trying to do here. The first plugin was purchased by mistake when I was actually trying to purchase this one. I don’t need the first, nor want the first, nor have use for the first. That’s a separate thing your colleague is dealing with. This situation only relates to the mouse and elements plugin.

Hope that makes more sense.

Thanks,

Ash

@tzuork,

Apologies for the back and forth with your question. Let me please try to help you, still. :pray:

If I’m not mistaken, by “incorrect plugin” you mean this plugin has a bug? Then would you kindly provide us with the details on it like screenshots of the plugin workflow setup, error message thrown by the plugin (if exists), steps to reproduce this issue. This information should help us understand what could cause your issue and let us resolve it in a short time.

No, unfortunately, the Mouse & Element positions plugin can’t give the coordinates of the typing cursor inside an input field. As it states in the plugin documentation/description - it can return the mouse coordinates and element position.

I understand, please accept my apologies for the misunderstanding and time that I might take from you.

We have just checked with our dev team your user case and indeed the Keyboard Shotcut plugin can’t “understand” where exactly to display the side menu. And also, the Mouse & Elements plugin is not a solution because it can’t detect the typing cursor position inside the input field.

Please accept my apologies once again for the misunderstanding.
Take care :pray:

Perfect, thank you Kate.

We got there in the end :slight_smile:

Appreciate your efforts in trying to help me with support, and for answering my queries.

No need for apologies, I’m grateful for the help and I’m sure I’ll be purchasing a lot more plugins in the near future.

Take care.
