The conjurer is able to save the pdf in the bubble database but I cannnot retrieve it. It appears to work after running the workflow several times. I even tried saving it as two different file types - file and text, but none saves on the first attempt. Is there something that i have missed?

Regarding your concern, to ensure the event is triggered with the workflow, could you please make sure that you have set the “Save to database?” field to “Yes” in the Conjure PDFModel action?
If you still encounter the same problem afterward, could you please share more details such as screenshots and screencasts of your workflow setup, plugin elements, the issue you see, and the expected result? For screencast recording, I suggest using the Loom tool.
Please record a step-by-step video with the browser’s console enabled (in case there are any error messages), and share the link with us so we can better understand your use case.
These details will help us reproduce your setup on our side and look into it.
