Hi, is is possible for the native mobile QR scanner plugin to remember the camera permissions after the first time it asks or does it need to ask every time?
Hey @wardey0513 ,
Thank you for contacting us.
You are right, at the moment the plugin constantly asks the user for permission.
I have passed this information on to the development team and they will check if we can remove this feature in the next plugin update.
As soon as I have an answer from them, I will be sure to let you know.
Thank you for your understanding!
Best Regards,
Anton
Hey @wardey0513 ,
Thank you for your patience.
I’m excited to share that we have effectively resolved the issue with the QR/Barcode scanner (Native) action and have updated it to version 1.4.0(updated the permission request).
Could you kindly update the plugin within your app to this latest version and confirm whether everything is now operating smoothly?
Feel free to explore the plugin’s functionality on our demo page.
Your patience and cooperation throughout this process have been greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
Anton
Hi this seems to work on my laptop (oddly) where it doesn’t ask for permissions after the first time but on my iOS mobile it’s still asking every time, is there something I’m missing? I’ve updated to 1.4.0. This is through Bubble Go, not a deployed app. Does that make a difference?
Hey @wardey0513 ,
Thank you for your feedback.
Our developers are checking what went wrong with the plugin on iOS.
We will try to resolve this issue as soon as possible, and I will get back to you with an update soon.
Have a nice day!
Best Regards,
Anton
Hey @wardey0513 ,
Thank you for your patience.
This behavior is expected on iOS devices. While the plugin now only asks for camera permission when the “Start” button is pressed (as shown in our demo), iOS still prompts for permission each time. Unfortunately, this is a limitation on iOS and can’t be fully resolved at the moment.
This issue is more noticeable when using Bubble Go or previewing, rather than in a fully deployed app. We’re hoping this will improve once Bubble provides more native-level controls in the future.
Let us know if you have any other questions or need help setting things up!
Best Regards,
Anton
