Questions about Bookings & Appointments template

Hi Levon, I appreciate that you guys are working really hard to make your templates available for others like me to go from dreaming to building apps with your templates. Like seriously, much appreciated.

You guys are limited with time but I think it would be great to prepare a mini documentation for the app templates. It would really help make customizing the templates so much easier and straightforward. Example with the appointment and booking template, some changes almost all user of the template would like to customize would be:

  1. The activities list: science, foreign language, business, etc. How can you change that list to reflect your niche/business?
  2. Probably related to 1 above. Does this template have an admin interface for managing the site? Like to manage users, add and remove activities, etc. Not talking about the bubble site editing interface.

If I’m ignorant about a feature that exists, let me know.

As bubble expands, template documentation would have to become a thing. Even for experienced users in any field, there is no reason to spend hours figuring something out that can be quickly explained by the original developer. It’s just how things work across all fields. Having a documentation on the most likely features to be customized seems to me like a good move.

Thanks a lot for the kind words, I appreciate it and that’s exactly what we are aiming it - making launching new products much easier and cheaper!
The necessity to product documentation for templates is a no-brainer, you are absolutely right about that and at some point we are going to do that, but at the moment we are really overbooked with client projects and own products so can’t spare resources for that. But this forum has been set up exactly for that - helping our others use the templates.
As for your questions:

you can simply go to the app’s data tab, then click on App Data, and then find the table which contains the activity list. You can modify that list directly from the app data window, or you can create an admin page to manage settings like that

we haven’t configured any pages for that, but it’s possible to manage any data and configuration directly from the Bubble app editor. Admin page might be easier to use and you could actually try building one yourself.
We suggest all template users to do the basic and intermediate bubble tutorials and courses in order to be comfortable and confident when using our templates.

Hi Levon, thanks for your reply. Everything you said makes sense. Could you tell me where in the app you set the site’s commission? Thanks.

On the bookings page, in the workflow tab you can see 2 workflows for “confirm payment” button,. They are the same but for slightly different scenarios - one when the user already provided their card and the other when they did not. In both of these workflows you see an action “charge a user”, that’s where the app fee (commission) is configured. As you can see currently it is 0.07 (7%) - you can change that to any other amount (you need to do that for both workflows for it to be consistent in all scenarios. Hope this helps!
