QuickBooks Accounting Plugin - P&L API Limited To Grandchild Account Transactions

Hi Zeroqode Team!

I am testing out your QuickBooks Accounting Sandbox Plugin and overall it works GREAT! As luck would have it, it appears to have a limitation that is somewhat disappointing. It looks like the APIs for both the “Profit And Loss Report” and the “Profit And Loss Detail Report” are limited to reporting on data/transactions involving only a Parent, Child, & Grandchild Account.

For example, my current QBO Developer Sandbox Company has the following hierarchy within the Chart of Account:

Income → Landscaping Services → Job Materials → Fountains and Garden Lighting

I am able to successfully pull all transactions under Income, Landscaping Services, and Job Materials, but there does not appear to be a way to access any information involving the “Fountains and Garden Lighting” great-grandchild account.

I am not a traditional developer and I am also very new to the world of “no code” development. While I’m guessing the issue I’m encountering is likely due to my lack of knowledge / experience working with APIs, I do want to share there does not appear to be a “Rows Row 9x” data type (There is “Rows Row 3”, “Rows Row 5”, and “Rows Row 71”). Might this be the reason I am unable to access the data on a great-grandchildren account?

I have 2 primary requests for your support team:

  1. How difficult would it be for someone to look into this to determine if there is in fact a limitation that prevents successfully accessing any data pertaining to great-grandchildren transactions?

  2. Also, if it is determined that the Plugin does not currently support this capability, it would be helpful to know if this is intentional or if there is the possibility of this being developed in the future.

Thank you!

Ryan

Hey @rmarkel ,
Thank you for contacting us.

Currently we have over 800+ plugins, so we do not provide plugin configuration assistance.
We have a plugin demo page as well as documentation for this purpose.

If the demo page is not enough for you, you can always subscribe to the plugin and check how it will work in your application.
You will be charged only for the actual days used, the fee is added to the monthly bill (or yearly if the user is on a yearly plan), and the amount is prorated. If you subscribe to a plugin for one day you’ll end up being charged for this plugin fee / 31.

Thank you for understanding.

Best Regads,
Anton

Hi Anton -

Thank you so much for your response. I fully understand and appreciate the volume of plugins you and your team have created - it is inspiring!

After submitting my request last week, I spent several hours this weekend digging in to the issue I was experiencing. As it turns out, it does appear that the issue I was encountering is a limitation within the Zeroqode plugin itself. I confirmed this by manually configuring the API and successfully pulling additional data via the very same Quickbooks Online API utilized by the Zeroqode plugin. Also, this was simply done by initializing the API in Bubble to map the additional layers of data. Once I had successfully configured the API within Bubble, it took less than 30 seconds to accomplish this particular step.

This leads me to ask the following question:

Would it be possible for someone to update the Zeroqode plugin to enable it to pull these additional layers of data from within both the P&L Report and P&L Detail Report APIs?

Thanks again,

Ryan
