Repeating Group Sort Plugin - By Time?

Is it possible to sort based on a time. I not only need it to sort based on the date (which it does just fine) but I need it to also be ordered by Time on those dates.

Anything I can do to make that work?

Thanks!

Hi @egeeked,

Thank you for your question!

Yes, it is possible to sort by both date and time using the Repeating Group Sorting (Sort) Plugin.

An option to achieve that is creating a combined datetime field (or two separate fields: one for date and one for time) in your database and then sort by that field. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Combine Date and Time:
If your date field and time are stored separately, create a new field in your database that combines both date and time. You can format it as a datetime field so that it can be sorted correctly.
  2. Sort by Combined Datetime:
Use the Repeating Group Sorting Plugin to sort the repeating group based on this new combined field (datetime). Make sure to set the sorting criteria to sort by the new datetime field.

You can find more details about the plugin and its setup in the documentation.

Feel free to share additional details about your desired workflow.

Hi @egeeked,

Just wanted to check in and see if the steps I shared earlier helped you set up the sorting by date and time using the Repeating Group Sorting Plugin.

If you’re still having trouble or need help setting up the combined datetime field, feel free to share more details about your workflow - I’d be happy to assist further!

Looking forward to your update.

I have been using this plugin but there is no date time option. Only these;

Hi @egeeked,

To better assist you with your question, I’ll need more details about your setup and the workflow you’re aiming for.

Could you clarify what represents “Time” in your case? If it’s a database type, what fields does it have, and what types are they?

It would also be helpful if you could provide some sample input data and the expected output as examples.

Looking forward to your response!

Date time are in 1 field in the database, when I use the sort repeating group by date it does not take the time in to consideration. When I do by number and have it just display the time it does it by the first two digits of the time but mixes am and pm throughout.
