Swipe to Workflow Action causing page to crash

Hello,

I would like to add a swipe function to my app. I need to be able to have the swipe only work on a specific element, so your Swipe to Workflow Action plugin seems perfect. I got it installed and working without trouble.

However, when I made the page live, my page kept spontaneously re-loading every time I opened the page with this plugin on it. This has actually happened for me with more than one swipe detecting plugin. Once I deleted the plugin, the crashing stopped.

I have deleted the plugin, but can’t find another that has the features I want – and this one does. So I’m wondering if you have any idea why this plugin might be causing my page to crash and have a way to fix that.

If you need to me to put the plugin back on the page so you can see it in action. I can do that this evening. But thought I’d ask a general question first.

Hope this is clear enough. But if it isn’t, just let me know…

Hi @mudtowncleaning,

Thanks for flagging this, it’s definitely unusual behavior.

I’ve gone ahead and tested our demo page on macOS, Windows, and iOS, and everything seems to be running smoothly without any page crashes. You can check it out here: Swipe to Workflow Demo

Could you confirm if the crash still happens when viewing our demo? This will help us isolate whether the issue is device-specific.

It’s also possible that in your setup, a workflow action might be triggering the page reload, or there could be a plugin conflict. For testing purposes, you might want to create a separate clean page with only our plugin to confirm whether it’s causing the crash or if it’s something else in your app.

To help us investigate further, it would be great if you could share:

  • A screenshot of your workflow setup
  • Or, if convenient, a short Loom video showing the issue in action

This will allow us to identify any potential issues and provide guidance to fix it.

Looking forward to your reply!

Hello,

And thank you for the thorough reply. Honeslty, I have no idea what was causing the problem when I send that message. I was having a crashing problem. I removed the swipe plugin. It fixed it. I put it back, the problem happened again. I removed it, it fixed it. Seemed like I’d solved the problem. So I made it live.

Then, the problem came back, this time without the plugin at all. I have been trying many things to fully solve this issue. But it seems like maybe it is multiple things that in some circumstances are causing the crashing issue.

For example, I had some content in a floating group that really didn’t need to be in the floating group any longer. Removing the floating group seemed to dramatically improve the crashing issue. I think it is an complex problem, and, sorry to admit this, but your plugin was not the problem. Just a small contributor In some circumstances, removing the swiper plugin fixed the problem. But in others, it did not. I’m still working on it.

But feel like I have wasted your time a bit. For that, I apologize. But otherwise, the plugin is great. Just what I wanted. So… thanks!

Chris

Hey @mudtowncleaning ,

Really appreciate you taking the time to explain all that, makes total sense.

Sounds like it’s one of those tricky situations where a bunch of little things in the app combined to cause the crashing. Honestly, that happens more often than you’d think, and it’s not a waste of anyone’s time. The good news is the plugin itself seems to be doing exactly what you need, which is great!

Glad you were able to find some of the other contributing factors, and it’s awesome to hear it’s working for you overall. If anything else comes up, feel free to let us know :hand_with_index_finger_and_thumb_crossed:
