Video box like Youtube

Hi there,

I bought two plugins from zeroqode “upload + capture video” and “video player” in order to create a website similar to YouTube.

I would like to create box on the home like this:
image

When you click on the box you are then redirected to the video page URL where the video is displayed.

I really don’t know how to create such a box, is it a picture or a video ? and how to redirect it to a video page URL ?

Your help would be great !

Thanks !
All the best,

Anthony

Hello, @lossoanthony. Thanks for reaching out.

If you want to create a box, a click on which redirects to the URL-sourse of the video, plese check this steps:

  1. create a Group element on your page: http://prntscr.com/rvke05
  2. inside a Group element add a Video element: http://prntscr.com/rvkeju
  3. inside a Group element add a Text element (for the video descr): http://prntscr.com/rvkha3
  4. in Video element set the video sourse and ID (Youtube, ID): http://prntscr.com/rvkj4q
  5. in Workflow create an action When element is clicked: http://prntscr.com/rvkjl5
  6. set which element to be clicked (the Group, within which your box is): http://prntscr.com/rvkk0e
  7. add an action: http://prntscr.com/rvkkve
  8. indicate a Destination, which URL you want to open, when your box is clicked (in our situatiuon, it is the sourse-URL of your Youtube video: https://youtu.be/r2vVsF4LS_I

As the result, you’ll have such box: http://prntscr.com/rvknvp

I hope my reply was helpful.

Hi Kate,

Thank you so much for all your explanation very detailed. It deblocked me. For the point 8 that you mentioned, if I want that when I click on the video box, it open a new page on my website with the video, how can I do ?

I think to take your template Tubely in order to see how you did the workflow etc. I think it could be very helpful.

Thanks,

Anthony

Anthony,

The guidance, I’ve described above was for opening an external URL on the same page. If you want to open it on a new page - check the following.

I’ve found an easier solution, where you don’t need to set the workflow.
You can use a Video element or Image element (the thumbnail of the video you want to place in your box), depends on your choice.

For the video element:

  • create a Group; create a Video element inside of it; add the source and ID of the video; create a Link element above the Video element, and check. Now you’ll be able to open a new page with the external URL you’d like.

For image element (your video’s thumbnail):

  • create a Group; create an Image element inside of it; upload the image/indicate the URL of your image; create a Link element above the Image element (the same way, as for the Video element) and check.

The result: http://prntscr.com/rvocnk

By the way, Tubely is a great already made solution  It will save you a bunch of time, you need only to modify the template to your needs.

If there’s any else assistance I can do, please tell.

Hi Kate,

Thanks again for your reply, very helpfull, I have been unclear in my second question. I am looking for opening an internal URL, my purpose is to create a website such as YouTube but with my own video.

Yes I think your template Tubely can be relevant for me and I will take it.

Thanks again Kate,

All the Best,

Anthony
