When uploading small images using compressor

I am using the compressor very well.

However, if I upload a low image of about 200kb, the image quality becomes very poor as I reduce the image to 20kb.

If it is less than 500kb, can’t I just upload the original?

Hello @studio.be.lazy ,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for the delayed reply on the forum, we tried to reach you by email a few times but unfortunately didn’t hear back from you.

We’ve carefully verified the plugin with the dev team and have a few suggestions for you.

First, the plugin is designed to compress images, if you set the quality param to 1 it will still compress the image and will keep the highest quality of the image.

To avoid compressing images and keep them at their original size, in the plugin action Select and Compress Compressor A - there is a ‘Threshold to Convert’ field, which allows you to set the file size limit from which the compression should start. See the screenshot

For example, if you want the plugin to not compress images smaller than 2MB, simply set the value to 2. Conversely, to compress images larger than 500KB, set the value to 0.5. Please check the screenshot available here: Screenshot by Lightshot.

For a clearer understanding, here is an example showing the behavior of the plugin when setting the value to 2, which avoids compressing images smaller than 2 MB: Screenshot by Lightshot.

In addition, it is important to note that if you leave the ‘Threshold to Convert’ field in the settings empty, all images will be compressed, regardless of their size.

As for the quality field, please note that this option is only available for jpeg and webp images. For comprehensive information about the plugin, please refer to the field description: Screenshot by Lightshot.

Thank you for understanding.
