Bubble Page to PDF converter Clipping

When the source element is converted to a pdf it clips the text (html text). See attached images for further clarification

Does anyone have some insight on how to avoid this? Is this a known bug?

Hi Brian,
if the content is higher than the selected pdf outfile file size then it will get cut.
however you can enable the checkbox as shown on the screenshot above and then it should work
image
the plugin is quite powerful but also complex, so I’d suggest you to check the documentation https://docs.zeroqode.com/plugins/bubble-page-to-pdf
demo pages: zeroqode-demo-01 | Bubble Editor
and experiment with the settings.
thanks

Levon,

Thanks for the reply. I was able to fix the issue by changing some of the HTML code that was embedded in the source group. As you can see in the screenshots there are images that aren’t getting clipped despite being lower than the text that is getting clipped so I don’t believe clicking the checkbox would have fixed the issue.

Thanks for looking into the concern though.

I can fit a 850x1100 source page on a 8.5x11 letter size pdf. But this gives me 100dpi - not good for printing.

If I double my source page to 1700x2200 it gets cropped on the letter pdf. Is there a max source size? I’m trying to get up to 200 dpi

EDIT- here’s how i got what I want - I took the target off letter and made it custom - matched it exactly to my source. It then output a 17x22 paper size PDF, which I click “Fit” on the 8.5x11 page to print

Hello @jeffmccutcheon,
Thank you for describing your experience and for the useful edit
The exact dimensions can usually solve the issue and make the PDF best-fitted.
If you like our Bubble Page to PDF plugin, could you rate it by going to Plugins tab in Bubble editor? Find the plugin by name and give it as many stars as it deserves  The more feedback we get, the more motivated we are to make things better in Bubble.
Kind regards,
Olga

Thank you Olga. It is working fine for me on PC. However I cannot download the PDF on my mac (OS 10.12.6) The download button is not reacting at all (I confirmed I can download other files on mac)

Hello @jeffmccutcheon,
Thank you for reaching out!

Please check if you also allowed the browser to download the PDFs. If you use safari in order to check it you will need to go to Websites/ Downloads and make sure that the bubble link is allowed to download.

Please let me know if this was the cause.
Regards,
Alex.

I don’t have downloads option under websites in safari. However I did disable all content blockers and tried it with reader both on and off.

I also tried it on chrome on mac and could not download. (I tried it with chrome settings to download pdfs and setting to open pdfs in browser)

Ok then could you please share a screenshot of the browser’s console after you press the download button?

Yes. it seems it’s due to photos in the PDF target that are stored my AWS S3 (I am using the zeroqode aws uploader plugin - and I believe my security settings are exactly as suggested in the tutorial)

I’m actually having this same problem on mac with another plugin (photos stored on s3)

If you need access to my aws or my bubble app let me know

Update - it works in firefox on mac - just not chrome nor safari

Hello @jeffmccutcheon,

Thank you very much for the screenshot and details this helps a lot in searching for the solution. It will be great if you could add support@zeroqode.com as contributors to your app.

Regards,
Alex.

a fellow bubbler suggested the solution was here: https://zyst.io/how-to-fix-aws-s3-chrome-and-safari-cors-on-images

this would explain why it works on firefox.

Does the zerqode s3 uploader automatically create https urls? or is this something I configure on amazon? Or can the PDF gernerator request either http or https? I confess i don’t understand any of it.

Hi @jeffmccutcheon

Thank you for the access to your app we will inspect the issue and will come back with an answer. I will keep you posted.

Best regards,
Alex.

Dear @jeffmccutcheon,

We checked your application and the download functionality works correctly. Here is the video of testing on safari: https://s3.amazonaws.com/appforest_uf/f1573120862955x835692139191589600/Screen%20Recording%202019-11-07%20at%2011.28.35.mov
So, most probably the issue is caused by the computer and not the plugin.

Please check this article. I hope it will help you to solve the issue with download on safari. https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/safari-downloads-not-working/

Alex.

Hi Alex, thanks for checking. That page was a test page to see if I could download pdfs with photos from bubble’s storage (I can) The problem is that I can’t download pdf’s with images that are uploaded from the zeroqode s3 uploader. I have replaced the image on the PDF TEST page with such an image. Can you try now?

@jeffmccutcheon
We checked one more time the “test_pdf” page and everything is working correctly. I’m sorry that we cant help you. The problem seems to be on your side.

Regards,
Alex

Okay, what problem on my side would allow me to download pdfs with photos on the bubble server but not with photos uploaded via the zeroqode s3 uploader? (only on mac and on safari and chrome only?)

I am on OS 10.12.6 on macbook air
my assistant is on OS 10.14.6 . Macbook pro retina

The problem is identical on both computers

Futhermore the problem is not limited to the PDF generator. I’m using a file zipping plugin that works in all cases except when trying to zip photos that have been uploaded via the zeroqode s3 plugin and only on safari and chrome on macs (works fine on chrome on pc)

Dear @jeffmccutcheon,

We will continue to inspect this issue and test it in order to reproduce the bug and find the solution.
I will keep you posted in this regard.

Best Regards,
Alex.
