Barcode Scanner has no camera focus

I am using the Barcode QR Scanner plugin (Plugin page, V1.69.0 latest version)

My users are reporting that when the camera turns on, it shows the camera without any focus. They manually are taking 10+ seconds to adjust the depth of the object in front of their camera because the camera has poor focus. It’s my #1 customer complaint.

In all cases, users are using the larger barcode size that is claimed to be supported. Additionally, the camera is atypically zoomed in by default. My hypothesis is that there is something initiating the camera at zoom (across all devices, not camera specific) which then messes up the focus.

There are other posts sharing the same experience - it is not a camera issue.

There are other barcode scanners like (this, this) that have the expected zoom and still allow focus within <1 second. However, I prefer to stay with Zeroqode for my Bubble plugins if possible.

Can this be fixed? Any solutions?

I reached out to them as well and they won’t admit that it’s a problem. So I had to go with the other one you recommended, and it works great. Zeroqode has been great at working on other plugins, so I was surprised by their response.

Hi @janiece.lincoln,

Thanks for sharing these details and the related posts!

I understand the focus issue with the Barcode & QR Code Reader plugin and why it’s a major concern for your users. I’ve shared your feedback with our development team for further assistance.

While they look into it, could you please let me know if this happens on specific devices or browsers?
Any additional info would help us diagnose the problem more accurately.

We appreciate your patience and your preference to stay with Zeroqode plugins.

Best regards,
